Vickers Fluted Jacket .303 MMG with Tripod S/N ET138

Description

Vickers MK1 .303 Heavy Machine gun,  VA made gun with early fluted barrel jacket,  complete with tripod – correctly dated 1942 –  wooden ammo box with canvas belt,  inert .303 rounds and cooling hose with water can (see last picture).

ET  code is Vickers Armstrong manufacture, the factory being located in Crayford, Kent made during  1942, and was one of a batch of 200 guns that were shipped to Egypt (the ET being the first and last letters of the country) for service during WW2,  and subsequently left there after the conflict. Many of the remaining runs were captured by Israel during the Six Day War in 1967,  and held until being released when they were deemed obsolete during the late 1980s/early 1990’s .

Presently de-activated to the former UK specification with full moving action.  Vickers guns with the fluted jacket are increasingly hard to find, and this example is in very good condition with an interesting history.
